Nick Cole, Director and head of Engineering and Technology at Robert Bird Group, shares his insights on the design and construction of wooden bike frames, a passion of his that has run in parallel with his career as a structural engineer over his 20-year career.

Nick will challenge us to re-consider what we think we know about conventional materials and how wood can match or outperform steel in many applications.

Also joining the session will be a representative from the Bamboo Bicycle Club, an organisation dedicated to building sustainable futures, one bamboo bike at a time. Since 2012, they’ve empowered thousands of people in over 40 countries to build their own bamboo bikes, combining sustainability, creativity, and hands-on learning to show that better alternatives truly exist.
