Project Spotlight
The National Gallery NG200 programme (2021–2025) marked its 200th anniversary, enhancing visitor experience, better integrating the Sainsbury Wing with Trafalgar Square, creating research centres, and refurbishing the Centre for Creative Learning. With works adjacent to conservation studios, galleries, stores, and archives, vibration posed significant risks. Bickerdike Allen Partners (BAP) assessed vibration effects on sensitive artworks and equipment, and noise impacts on staff and visitors. Extensive on-site trials simulated construction activities to inform mitigation and scheduling, including works planned around re-hangs up to two years ahead.
